Gold plated silver and enamel earrings.

The elephant, called Liotru in dialect, is the symbol of the city of Catania. The fountain that supports the black basalt statue depicting the animal, in the center of the Piazza del Duomo, is a monumental work created between 1735 and 1737 by the architect Giovanni Battista Vaccarini.
