The lighthouse is a precious instrument for sailors, a guide in the darkness. It was first built on the island of Pharos in the 3rd century BC and remained in operation until the 14th century, when two earthquakes destroyed it. Even in the Mediterranean there are beautiful ones, such as the one at Capo Grecale in Lampedusa or Cozzo Spadaro in Porto Palo di Capo Passero, in Sicily.
