Cassata
Description
Bracelet in gold-plated 925 silver, enamel and hypoallergenic hand-knotted fabric cord with extendable clasp.
The Sicilian dessert par excellence, anciently prepared only during the Easter period. The name and recipe derive from the Arab domination in Sicily, between the 9th and 11th centuries: the Arabs had imported sugar cane, lemon, citron, bitter orange, mandarin, almond. Together with sheep's ricotta, already produced in Sicily in prehistoric times, the first cassata took shape: a shortcrust pastry casing filled with sweetened ricotta and then baked. After the Spanish domination, during which chocolate and sponge cake arrived in Sicily, and the Baroque period - in which candied fruit became widespread - the dessert as we know it took shape.
